John's love of travel began at an early age reading travel and adventure books. Shortly after completing his university degree he began a career in the travel industry which enabled him to work and also travel across countries that he found fascinating, including Russia and the trans-Mongolian railway.

Having been firmly bitten by the travel bug, he has since travelled along the Silk Road through China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, across northern and southern India and much of the Middle East.

When not working at Audley John is a keen chef of the recipes he's learnt on his travels.

I saw the sun setting on the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert for the first time. After years of reading about the Sahara and seeing it featured in television programmes, I still didn’t feel prepared for the immensity and beauty of it.
